Instant lauki halwa/ bottle gourd halwa./Dudhi halwa.

You don’t need to wait for any occasion to indulge in this delicious lauki/dudhi halwa, which you can make just like that.

This simple and easy to make dessert can definitely impress anyone.


  • 1 medium size lauki/dudhi/bottle gourd.
  • 2 cups milk,
  • 2 to 3 table spoon sugar(use as per your taste)
  • 1 table spoon milk powder,
  • 1tsp cardamom powder,
  • Nuts(almonds, pistachios)
  • 2 tabele spoon ghee.


  1. Wash and peel lauki.(Use fresh lauki that would taste better.)
  2. Remove seeds and grate.
  3. First take a pan with water.
  4. Boil water and add grated lauki.
  5. Cook for 2 minutes.(blanching , sustains the natural colour and halwa takes less time to cook .)
  6. Then remove shredded lauki and immidiately put it into ice cold water.
  7. On the other hand boil milk and reduce to half on low flame.
  8. Now drain extra water from lauki.
  9. Then take a pan add 1 table spoon ghee.
  10. And add drained lauki and stir fry.
  11. When you get a beautiful aroma of ghee roasted lauki(it would take 3 to 4 minutes on low flame),add milk powder and mix.
  12. After mixing milk powder add reduced milk and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes (.cover the lid while cooking.)
  13. When milk completely evaporates, then add sugar and 1 table spoon ghee and stir.
  14. Cook till it start releasing ghee and sugar completely dissolves.
  15. Now add cardamom powder and nuts.
  16. Mix and it’s done.
  17. You can have it as per your choice warm or chilled.
  18. I prefer warm.
  19. Enjoy this delicious lauki/dudhi halwa.
