Easy slow cooked chicken curry.

. This simple chicken curry is full of fragrant spices and tender pieces of chicken. It’s slow-cooked so the meat is beautifully tender.

A hassel free, easy and simple process and you get a scrumptious curry for dinner or lunch. You can have it with rice, roti or paratha as per your choice.

Ingredients :

  • 1 kg chicken
  • 4 big onions( thin sliced)
  • 2 table spoon ginger garlic paste.
  • 3 to 4 green chillies.(roughly chopped)
  • 2 to 3 red chillies.
  • 1 table spoon kashmiri red chilli powder.
  • 1/2 tsp dry ginger powder.
  • 1/4 tsp fennel seed(saunf) powder.
  • 2 or 3 roughly chopped tomatoes.
  • 2 bay leaves, 4 pods cardamom, few cloves, 1 inch cinnamon stick, 1/2 tsp shah jeera, 1/2 tsp cumin(jeera) seeds.few javitri strands, 1 black cardamom.
  • Few saffron strands( soaked in warm water.)
  • Turmeric(haldi) powder
  • Red chilli powder(as per your choice)
  • 1 1/2 table spoon coriander powder, 1 table spoon cumin powder,1/2 tsp black pepper powder.
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder.
  • Chopped coriander leaves.
  • Salt as per taste, pinch of sugar.
  • 2 table spoon Mustard oil and 1 table spoon ghee.
  • 1tsp chicken masala.


  • Wash chicken pieces and add some turmeric powder and 1 tsp chicken masala, coat it nicely.
  • Heat a thick bottom pan.
  • Add mustard oil .
  • Heat oil then add cumin seed and bay leaf.
  • After cumin seeds crackles add all the whole garam masalas.
  • Cook for a while then add chopped green chillies and onion.
  • Cook till onion gets translucent.
  • Now add ginger garlic paste and mix well.
  • Then add red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, dry ginger powder, fennel powder,black pepper powder and saute for a while.
  • Then add chicken pieces ,tomato, 2 whole green chillies, red chillies..
  • Add salt and turmeric powder.
  • Give a nice stir.
  • Then add two cups water or as required.
  • Cover the lid and cook On low flame till the meat becomes tender.
  • Stir carfully in between once or twice only.
  • Then take 2 table spoon kashmiri chillie powder and some water and make a paste.
  • In a tadka pan heat ghee.
  • Add pinch of sugar then pour red chilli paste.
  • Cook for a second and add this to the chicken curry.
  • Mix well and cook for another 5 minutes on low without lid.
  • Then add garam masala powder, saffron water and chopped coriander leaves.
  • Your simple and easy,slow cooked chicken curry is ready to be relished
  • You can enjoy this curry with rice, roti or paratha as per your choice.
